Admissions Manager, Temporary (up to 14 months), £48,336pa, 35 hours per week

It is an exciting time to join the Law Society of Scotland. Due to a period of maternity leave, we have an opportunity within the Education, Training and Qualifications team for an Admissions Manager who is highly motivated and organised. The role holder will manage and develop the processes that regulate Scottish solicitor traineeships and provide guidance and support to trainees and training units. 

The role holder will be part of the Education, Training and Qualifications Team, which has a varied remit including:

  • Setting standards for qualification as a Scottish solicitor;
  • Overseeing the regulatory processes associated with legal training in Scotland;
  • Accrediting university providers of Scots law degrees and Diplomas in Professional Legal Practice; and
  • Outreach and support work for schools, students and trainees.

Key Responsibilities for this role

  • Leading on quality assurance of traineeships;
  • Ensuring compliance with our Admission as Solicitor (Scotland) Regulations 2019;
  • Acting as a committee secretary;
  • Leading and motivating a team of administrators; and
  • Development of policies and guidance. 

The successful candidate will be fully supported by others in the team.

  • Ability to interpret regulations or detailed rule sets

  • Stakeholder engagement, communication and presentation skills
  • Problem solving and use of judgement
